Charity is the core of Community Health Network's existence, which began in the 1950s when east side Indianapolis residents went door-to-door collecting funds to build Community Hospital East. This remarkable charitable effort from our neighbors gave us our start, and we are now a strong network of patient and employee support.
Contributors to Community Health Network Foundation’s annual Employee Campaign raised more than $354,000 to help patients, families and employees! This year, 733 employees gave because they care and 88 of them gave for the very first time. These important unrestricted and designated gifts will support many programs or departments, and will fund many of our network’s greatest needs.
Here is a break-down of this year’s top Employee Campaign gift designations:

Many donors decided to support employees needing assistance during difficult times. We are thankful for our partnership with our Employee Assistance Program colleagues, who facilitate many employee assistance needs, like HELP fund loans, which continue to be requested by many employees. In fact, from January through June 2011, we have helped more than 501employees by distributing loans totaling nearly $129,000. Gifts designated to support employees help sustain this very important program.
Other donors made unrestricted gifts that allow us to partner with network leaders to fund priorities as they arise. As these requests for funding are made, our professional team and board of directors review them by following a standardized process of evaluation. Together, we will work quickly and thoughtfully to fund our network’s greatest needs.
Many donors designated their gifts to their favorite department or patient care programs, and several invested in the growth of our hospitals and the important work of the Society for Nursing Excellence. Fund managers will utilize these designated funds to make investments of all kinds throughout the network.
