Major gift to Community Health Network Foundation establishes endowment to benefit mentally-ill patients

Anita J. Harden, R.N., MSN, MBA and president emeritus of Community Hospital East, announced she has made a $60,000 gift to Community Health Network Foundation to establish an endowment to benefit mentally-ill patients in central Indiana. Harden made the announcement during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held today to celebrate the completed renovation of the new Behavioral Health Pavilion, located on the Community North Campus.

Harden explained the funds will establish the Anita J. Harden Endowment to Benefit the Seriously and Persistently Mentally Ill and will be used to provide education, training and necessities needed to improve the quality of life for central Indiana patients diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness. These programs and services, not normally covered by insurance or publicly-funded sources, will attempt to prevent hospitalization and support the patients’ on-going daily living needs. Going the extra mile never felt so good

At Community, we go the extra mile to make exceptional moments your everyday expectation. Our donors fund opportunities that empower our employees to make every patient and family experience exceptional. Every day, we support programs and services that positively impact the lives of our guests through the exceptional delivery of connected, convenient and coordinated care.

At the core of our commitment to providing exceptional patient and family experiences you will find that we don’t just want to get our patients healthy, we also want to get them back to their lives. And we’ll do whatever it takes to make that happen. So, when you hear stories of us hosting a prom for a hospitalized teenager turned prom queen, or throwing a wedding for a dying patient and his fiancée, just know those are everyday events for us. Because they are for you, too. Just because you or a loved one is in the hospital doesn’t mean that you should miss anything in your life. And you can thank our generous donors for that.

Please make a gift to support our commitment to the delivery of exceptional patient and family experiences.
