
John W. “Jack” Heiney, one of the best friends Community Health Network has ever had, passed away on November 6, 2011. He was 97, and an active supporter of our health care mission for four decades. His volunteerism, philanthropic contributions and friendship will be celebrated on November 14, 2011, at Flanner and Buchanan, 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue, Indianapolis. 9/21/11—At a press conference held today in Los Angeles, CA, Metta World Peace (formerly known as Ron Artest) announced he has donated $40,000 to Community Health Network Foundation, earmarked to expand behavioral health services to Central Indiana students.
The announcement of this donation was just one of eight gifts totaling $299,000 that World Peace and his nonprofit organization, Xcel University, is making to mental health providers throughout the country. Community Health Network has been awarded a $100,000 grant from The Moyer Foundation to open Camp Erin Indianapolis, a free camp designed for children ages 6-17 who have experienced the death of someone close to them. Facilitated by a partnership of Community Health Network behavioral care and home health professionals and volunteers, Camp Erin Indianapolis will be a weekend-long experience filled with traditional, fun camp activities, combined with grief education and emotional support.
